The Antelope Elementary School District (AESD) serves approximately 800 students in TK/Kindergarten through eighth grade and strives to provide students with a high-quality education, preparing them for high school and beyond. Our schools provide a caring, safe, challenging, and high-quality educational experience for all students.

We are proud of the high quality of education in AESD, but our schools are aging and need repairs and updates. Antelope Elementary School and Berrendos Middle School were constructed in 1939 and 1969, respectively, and schools built that long ago were designed for a different era of education and to outdated safety and instructional standards.

Outdated classrooms and facilities are costly and inefficient to operate. Anticipated improvements include repairing or replacing leaky roofs, outdated student restrooms, windows, and lighting throughout our school facilities. Upgrades to protect student safety and security are needed, including replacing outdated fire alarms and emergency communication systems, and upgrading perimeter fencing and school security. Additionally, some of our schools have portable classrooms that have exceeded their usable lifespans and are costly to repair for continued use.

Voting Yes on T will:

• Repair or replace leaky roofs, rusty plumbing, and deteriorating HVAC systems
• Install and upgrade security cameras and exterior lighting
• Update classrooms for science, technology, engineering, and math education
• Replace portable classrooms that have exceeded their usable lifespans
• Help ensure all schools have access to a multi-purpose room

Measure T includes strict mandatory accountability requirements that ensure the funds are spent as promised, including:

• Independent citizens’ oversight and annual audits are required
• All funds stay local to support local schools – no funds can be taken by the State
• No Measure T funds can be used for administrators’ salaries or benefits

No. By law, no funds from Measure T may be used for operating expenses, including administrator salaries and pensions. Funds may only be used to repair and upgrade AESD elementary other facilities. 

Yes. All funds will stay local to improve Antelope Elementary School, Plum Valley School, and Berrendos Middle School. No funds could be taken away by the State or be directed to other communities.

Yes, AESD worked with parents, teachers and community members to carefully assess the condition of school facilities. The AESD Board of Trustees has approved a detailed Facilities Master Plan that identifies the specific projects with cost estimates that would be completed if Measure T is approved by local voters. Whether or not you have school-age children, supporting local schools is a wise investment that improves our property values and local quality of life.

In the past forty years, AESD has not asked for community support through a local bond measure. However, in recent decades, neighboring school districts have passed bond measures to improve local schools.

By state law, no exemptions may be provided for bond measures. However, the total cost of bond measures is based on the assessed value of a home, not the market value. The longer a home has been owned, the lower the assessed value because it is based on the original purchase price. Typically, older homeowners who have owned their homes the longest pay the least for bond measures.

All registered voters residing within the Antelope Elementary School District are eligible to vote on Measure T. To be approved, Measure T requires “YES” votes from 55% of the votes cast on the measure.

Measure T will be on the June 2, 2026 ballot. Whether or not you normally vote at the polls, all registered, AESD voters living in Tehama County and Shasta County will be mailed a ballot the week of May 4. Once you receive your ballot, vote YES on T, sign and seal the envelope, and mail it back right away. No postage is required.
